You probably know Harvey Elliot as the young, handsome, and talented footballer who currently plays for Premier League football club Liverpool. He came up through their academy and made his first team-debut for Fulham back in 2018, becoming the youngest player to play in the EFL Cup at just the age of 15 years old. Then in 2019 he became the youngest player to play in the Premier League at age 16! He joined Liverpool in 2020, finally becoming eligible to sign his first professional contract at 17. This of course means the young Englishman has a whole weight of expectation resting on his shoulders. And from what we can see, he is living up to the hype.

Harvey Elliot was loaned out to the Blackburn Rovers where he played 24 games and achieved 4 goals and 9 assists. A great achievement. This fleet-footed and versatile attacker who has been described as “a diamond of a football player”. Everything was on track until Elliot sustained a horrific injury where he dislocated his ankle during Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Leeds. However, the season wasn’t over for Elliot as he recovered quickly and fought to be back training in no time with only 147 days out. He returned to Liverpool’s squad pumped up and even scored on his first match back against Cardiff City.

But for all his gifts as a footballer, the most noticeable thing about Harvey Elliot is his hair. The youngster is well known for his long locks, shaved sides and intricate patterns buzzed into his head. It made him easy to spot on the field, at least! However, the long hair is gone, and a new shorter style is in since Elliot made a deal to shave off his trademark topknot when he scores his first senior goal for Liverpool – and from the looks of things Elliot is a man of his word.

So, we at NO GUNK have created a style guide for you to help recreate the best of Harvey Elliot’s haircuts and hairstyles, from the man bun to his newest cut. Read on to find out more…

Hairstyle 1: Curly crop and fade

Harvey Elliot is a man with naturally thick and curly hair much like Cristiano Ronaldo, which is great news for all your curly haired fellas out there hunting for a new haircut. This is an easy haircut to maintain and even easier to style when you have the right products.

    How To Cut

Book an appointment with your barber and ask for tapered sides and fade with a high fade. Your barber needs to start at the base of your neck using a razor stopping about an inch from the main body of hair. Then they can move onto the clippers and blend the hair in using a #0.5 and a #1. For the top aim to point cut into the hair at around 3-4 inches at the front and gradually taper the hair around 2 inches at the crown of the head.

    How To Style

    • When you have naturally curly hair it is always best to start with wet hair as this will activate your curls. So, hop out of the shower after cleansing your scalp with Fig Barbary Natural Shampoo and pat your hair dry until it is damp to touch.
    • Now, grab some hair wax to use as a pre-styler, scoop up a small amount and work it throughout your hair. We suggest the Styling Funk as it is nutrient dense and filled with nourishing oils such as argan oil, coconut oil, and olive oil which is perfect for curly hair which can become dry and frizzy. This will help lock in moisture and fight off frizz.
    • Next, you need some Matte Lava Clay. Scoop up a pea-sized amount of product and warm it up between your fingertips. Apply the product throughout your hair making sure to work it root to tip. This will help your product last all day and give your hair that nice matte finish that Elliot goes for with his hairstyles.
    • Finally, grab your hairdryer and set it to a medium heat so you don’t damage your hair. Blow your hair upwards to create some volume and scrunch up the front of the hair so that once it is dry it will fall nicely across your forehead.

Hairstyle 2: Long top and fade

It’s time to get a bit nostalgic on this one and throw it back to Harvey Elliot’s original haircut. The long hair and messy bun were this youngster’s signature look. Just like Bale and Ibrahimovic, he wasn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd. This is an easy look to recreate. It just requires some patience and a few months of hair growth.

    How To Cut

Ask your barber for tapered sides and high fade with everything left long on top. To start they will have to section off the top of your hair. Then your barber needs to start at the base of your neck using a razor stopping about 3 inches from the main body of hair. For the rest of the hair, he can get to work with #1 and then go over the edges with a #0.5 to make everything look neater. Finally undo the top hair and point cut into it at 8-10 inches. This way your hair should fall just past your shoulders, and you won’t be making anything too short.

To have a truly authentic Harvey Elliot hairstyle ask your barber to cut in some waves or zig zags into the side of your new cut. This will make you stand out and have you looking like Elliot in no time!

    How To Style

    • Just like the previous hairstyle you’re going to want to start off with washed hair to activate your curls. Shower using the Fig Barbary Natural Shampoo and once you’re out pat your hair dry until it is damp to touch.
    • Next, you will need some hair cream to help smooth out your frizz and to help your long hair become easier to style. Scoop up a small amount of the Funky Flex Cream and apply it throughout your hair from root to tip. Don’t worry about weighing your hair down as the product is super light in consistency but will still help hold your hair all day long.
    • Now, grab your hairdryer and set it to a medium heat so you don’t damage your hair. Dry your hair until there are no damp patches. This is so you don’t damage your hair when tying it up. Tying up wet or damp hair can cause the hair to become weak and break.
    • Finally, you need to grab a bobble, hair tie, or scrunchie (whichever you prefer is ok) and then scoop up your hair so it is in a high pony at the crown of your head. Then twist the hair round and round until it forms a tight topknot. Secure the hair in place with your bobble and your new hairstyle is complete.

So, which one of these two hairstyles did you end up trying out? Leave a comment below if you are all for Harvey Elliot old hairstyle or new hairstyle. We would love to know!
